New year, new blog name

Hello to Kean's College of Education Community!

For those who have visited this blog before, you'll notice a new name for the blog--NCATE 2010. The blog was originally created for discussion about the College of Education's Conceptual Framework that recently underwent revision. To view the revised CF, go to the COE website and click on the NCATE link. Thanks to all who contributed!

As we ramp up for the upcoming program reviews and the NCATE visit in 2010, a blog such as this can be a valuable resource to celebrate accomplishments as well as to share and discuss concerns and questions about program assessments, the NCATE process and even the new unit assessment, the Teacher Work Sample.

As the blog creator, I hope to post a question for discussion each month and offer support for questions you post to the blog.

Blogging is easy, marginally fun, and ultimately a great way to allow for on-going discussions about topics of concern or interest to you. So let me be the first to welcome you to our blog and to say Happy 2008!

updating literature review supporting our mission/beliefs/goals/SPECTRUM

Hi Committee,
I sent you all an email yesterday with the section of the CF that has the required "knowledge bases" literature review. (If you didn't get it, let me know or read that section of the CF.) You'll see that this section is in need of an update! There are many great seminal works references, yet adding more recent support will be necessary as well. Please take a few minutes to read this section and note any areas that you may be able to contribute a more recent reference. Thanks! You can contact me through this blog (especially if it is a link you can post) or via email, or by phone.

Getting familiar with the Conceptual Framework

Committee members have received the CF in file form or as a hard copy; for others who are interested in reading our current CF, you can get to it from the "NCATE" link on the COE website or by clicking on this link: http://soe.kean.edu/~ncate/conceptualframework.htm .

We have the first committee meeting on April 27th. Let's start the conversation about the process for its revision before the meeting. Please take some time to read through it and begin thinking about: Testing our belief statements; showing that we value how our candidates impact their students' learning; and seeing NCATE's Standard #1 in your own program -- what does it look like for your students?
